one more of these by Maria Massarella
the doorbell tones its ring to
brief urgent style telling it is he
before ever i open vibes speak
in the way he presses ring
e…cosa ti sei dimenticato?
queried i his glowing eye
only minutes before
from the same semi-opened door
i had stared him to the elevator with
unspoken thoughtflows
a son's visit is a gift
not always is there space
for narrating the trivial
sometimes
communication is condensed into a
kiss and lingering hug on replay
he never did learn to leave with just
one - even as a child would habitually
rush back up the stairs poise in
hug his arms - collide a cheek
to cheek brush of kiss like in this
now as he wings open his arms
softkissestocheek his reply to my
“and what did you forget?”
un'altro di questi
“one more of these”

Wistful, sweet, lovely, haunting... |
Posted by JD Clay on 11/29/08 at 02:46 AM There is nothing sweeter than a mothers smile. There is nothing warmer than a mothers arms. There is nothing better than a mothers love. I know this for a fact and I know your son does too! |
