across the bay
beneath the moon
the lights of Inishcrone
cast shallow images
upon the retreating tide
a sole oyster catcher
calls us away

along the quay
the boats are
hove to
for winter's rest
and the distant
blue light

the perilous journey home

it was ever thus
this twin towered town
where Irish, French and
English fought
but failed to catch
the growing hope
of sunrise
