renegrade dream and the jonestown jungle

by Nanette Bellman

i'm standing on a corner
in the not so red light district.

faux fur coat.  blonde ambition.
you must think this is "pretty woman" all over again.

you asked "meet me anywhere in the world, baby"
and i pin the tail on a dark alley.
if i'm going to be trash, i might as well be at home.

we climbed our way into the dumpster.

in time we drank gasoline from the bottle
and fucked out our wrinkles like a knife through my gums.

i dug through your pockets, emptying wallets
making you "john doe"
for when your body's ash goes missing

i'll tell them spontaneous combustion, just in case.

even though the devil made me do it.
