Oranges and Cannon Fire

by Arianna Woods

Oranges and Cannon Fire (05/31/2007, 05/31/2007 14:28:44.289663 PDT)

You don't need to see

Don't have to taste, or smell, or hear

You just need to FEEL

The snow that remains untouched

On the flat black background

Cannon resting soundly beside it.

The snow, left in perfect lines

And the feeling of floating

That invites you in, a siren

To take the plunge

And wake the sleeping monster.

Oh, to feel the heat and the cold

Clash beneath your skin like a thunderstorm

Then calm

A crystalline cloud with butterfly wings

Snow rising softly

From the black

To the cannon

To the hollows behind your eyes

Can't get enough of it

Can never get enough.

You make it sound incredibly compelling. Wonderful, wonderful work.
