beyond this port

by Kathleen Wilson

drawn to a free
connection to open sea
a path leads beyond the upper edge
one broad stroke
tidal mouth of infinity
indicates everything

beyond salt marshes
mangrove seagrass swamp
all that is known by crocodile
green sea turtle sturgeon and pawpaw
beyond anchored boats
in harbor that we are

the unspeakable simplicity
such vast unknown
finally sweeps turquoise blue
on white relief
such clarity of the deep
beyond this port

I wish I could be this poetic. Outstanding, as always.

Hi Kath. Yes, wonderful this. The most poetic travelogue ever...meta or micro "phorically", if I may. You are forever at two scopes, maybe more, upclose, and then the large brush takes its turn. How is it I smell the salt air...it is my reckoning you have left it out so I might bring it along as I read, because it is proper to bring it.You haven't stated it, but you have guven me the nod, or a wink, that it is welcome. That is a kindness and a service to every reader. As Voltaire said, "if you want to be a bore leave nothing out." This is coming up for air and awakening from a deliciously distant dream at once. A pure poem, from a truely poetic heart. Delighted. Thank you.

With pleasure I will wait ten minutes for the new day, and a chance to select this as my suggestion for potd. Mercy, fine poetry.

The sea does this to people doesn't it. The vast expanse opening into everything and nothing at the same time. Really nice write lady.
