unlikely weight by Ava Bluthey keep asking if i really have no regrets
and if i really would marry for love and not money
though i keep saying yes,
and keep trying to underestimate my ability to see beyond looks,
i've found myself seriously doubting the weight of the world on my shoulders
i compare it to the flowers in my hair,
the breath inside my cold and lonely car,
the easy answers they keep predicting incorrectly
and maybe all of this is my fault
maybe i need to stop playing vicitm to the voices that never seem to carry any weight
but i won't lie to you,
at least that's how i pretend
and somehow,
some way,
you've yet to figure this out.

| Posted by Jeffrey Parren on 11/06/08 at 10:56 PM I agree. Quite deep and introspective yet reasonable and thinking of all possibilities. ~JPP |

The weight of the world notwithstanding
Easy answers rarely lift the weight or lighten the load.
Finally, you catch the sense of selfdeception as the way to survival. (My question is: Is it? Or does it simply delay the inevitable.)
Thought provoling poem. |
