04. i'm not that kind of guy

by Nanette Bellman

the shrug of your shoulders
is a defense mechanism.

just like you use "i don't know"
as a yellow traffic light
when you really mean it to be a stop sign

it's your way of avoiding the topic.
you give me what you think is
                        a "sufficient-for-the-moment" answer
to a question i really want truth from,
in hopes that i'll forget completely about it

then you go on about how
these aren't things you are,
this isn't how you were raised,
and blahblah so forth.

so ill ask you again....
        "i said i don't know...."

you must be pretty stupid because
you sure "don't know" a lot of things....
