I'm Going To Paint It Blue

by Genevieve Sturrock

it was yellow
lemonade on
a hot day
yellow
the morning
streaming through
lace curtains
yellow
stepping
into a box
of sunshine
warm and happy
yellow
and it always made me smile

but now
it is too
much
yellow
too bright
too cheerful
too hyper
yellow
screaming
in the night
bright lights
stabbing
the eyes
yellow
and now it makes me cringe

so i'm going
to paint it
blue
soft ripples
of water
blue
cool breeze
full of
ocean scent
blue
open sky
reach for
the stars
blue
and i don't even like blue

With a write like this, I think you could paint it any color you darn well please. Well done lady.

Ok...how eerie that we both have something like this! Wow. Thanks for leading me to this poem. :)
