Coldness Doctrine by Alisa Jsyou
shut me out
again,
quick
sudden.
without any regard
or repercussions,
exceeding the limits
of anything nearing
this,
blunt force compassion ...
and me
here I am,
stunned and reeling
like the schlemiel seen dancing
in the shadows,
full of hope and despair
your coldness cuts hard
straining the sweetness
of yesterday's dreams
and ideologies,
pulling the belief
past those
great night treacheries
I thought we'd laid to rest,
bereft and demoted
to whatever it was
we once had...
