You Asked Me What's Wrong

by Genevieve Sturrock

have you ever stood
in the door of a party
where everyone was
laughing and having
a great time
and you realized
that you don't
have anything
in common with
those people
and the laughter
makes you nervous
and you just freeze
because you
can't make yourself
enter that room
even though
you were invited

seeing you with her
is like that for me

Strongly drawn picture, mental associations, emotional reactions drwn together in analogy and illustration. Mmmm the crowded field, the mind, the memory, the throng, the outsider feeling, the desire, the repulsion, the ball is kicked one to the other, the "you" is both a room and in it, the mind is both a room and a field and in them too.
