always borrowing by Charlie Morganno kerosene lamps, instead computers.
we point and the brain clicks; one picture
taken of the world; fuzzy with red-eye;
that's our daily ken; we struggle onward,
sloshing through the picture we took of
a fresh day, only to have used old film.
the store has some new film; you gotta get up,
off your child-like ideas and go effect a real
purchase of new-blood to roll thru your veins.
your blood is your engine's oil; stays best
when fresh, so rejuvenate, rejuvenate! repeat
as needed to calm your nerves, relaxes the day.
developing to be processed while you sleep;
build cities, staircases to the moon; perhaps
castles on the moon; a woodshed would look nice. 10/30/2008 Author's Note: borrowed idea from Henry David Thoreau

| Posted by George Hoerner on 10/30/08 at 05:35 PM That's a good person to borrow from. I've tried to steal some bloody from my frisky dog but he won't let me put the needle in his veins. Nice write. |
| Posted by A. Paige White on 10/30/08 at 06:14 PM This is so good. I enjoyed it all, but am totally captivated by the last stanza. I adore adore adore how you floored me with the last development. Being from the south, the woodshed represents a "whooping", the very LAST place the kid in us wants to go so to have you jolt me from castles and cities and staircases to a whipping at the very end was priceless. I do adore that about your poetry, I never know what height you're going to drop me from, lol, but I always enjoy landing in giggles. I do hope you continue borrowing! |
