Dangle My Feet

by Alison McKenzie

I guess I didn’t expect
The adorable Texas drawl,
The “suthen” gentleman
Delighting my aural receptors
With all the love
And polite appreciation
Any woman could ever dare to dream.

Dream, I say,
But fantasize is more to the
Telling of any truth, ever,
In an innocent sort of
Vein of wonderment.

There are bi-ways,
Little detours on our way to Proper,
That elicit exploration
Sidewalks made of boundaries,
Suitable phraseology,
Honor and loyalty
To those who laid claim to our hearts
Long before we discovered
One another.
There is a way to love
That does not forsake.

So I will dangle my feet
In the warmth of those pools,
Natural hot springs,
Pristine mountain retreat,
And count myself so fortunate
To have found this experience,
This friendship of mutual adoration
Edification sans indulgence,
And be grateful for
The virtuous offering of a kind heart
In this world of otherwise corrupt intentions.

Beautiful... I always see the phrase "Toe in the water" or similar expressions, and how refreshing to see a new way written of "Dangle my feet". Wonderful imagery went along with this, lovely read. Qu
