Love Poem For A Woman With The Blues

by Richard Davis

She says she's got
the blues, but her body
is singing a different tune
as she smiles and sways
her way across the floor
while the sound of
Billie Holiday crooning
Lover Man fills the room.

I've got the lonely blues honey
she says reaching for my hand.
Honey, I need some medicine,
something sweet she says,
something that will make
me feel good, then she turns
away and walks that walk
of hers that does all
the talking, turns
at the bedroom door
and says so innocently:
"Got anything on you?"

Fiery, sexy, sassy and well put together. I LOVE Billie Holiday and this poem.
