when the first shudder from the cloudtips
rattled the shutters of the old house
and then crashed against the
vinyl siding whipped and split apart
we knew the world was ending
the electric buzzing currents
animating arms hairs and a helium
balloon rising in our guts
no answers
no questions even just you and the rain and me
creeping up on all sides
