FULL CIRCLE

by Racquel Cervantes

i'm breaking through the cracks of my porcelain skin
signs of a lifetime, piling up.
sometimes I just- want to be free
like a whisper to the heavens
hushed by the breath trapped, between your lungs..

with eyes tightly shut, i still dream of it
that life that We had conquered, so long ago
that person i'd been, but don't remember anymore
my sins, already bought and paid for..

(the moon is crying my depths again)

truth be told, i sometimes wish that i could return
to the fairytale land of blissful ignorance, where
i could look in the mirror with no shame- back
in those days, when the world seemed to be
Mine.

"Eli, Eli, lama sabachtani???"

God is still there where He was on the other side of "shame". Very dramatic ending!
