she started it

by Charlie Morgan

a fast pace, hidden in sleuthing;
a blur to most, always vanishing,
always eager to be the first.

be the dancing queen's prom date;
cyndi laupers strung like beads
making a pink tuxedo of yearn;

acting like a ventricle valve,
taking-in, squishing-out life;
as the abundance surrounds us.

girls, boys begging for the love,
settling for earthly, momentary lust;
to lead them thru the storms of youth.

finally, arriving at the gate of wisdom,
it creaks open, rust from youth's non-use;
oozing like variegated rocks detritus.

we brace ourselves for the long journey
of momentous[hidden]futures, a day at a time;
begin the replenishment of past generations.
