View From A Hospital Window On A Late Winter Afternoon

by Richard Davis

After our long talk
my friend got out
of bed into her wheelchair
to sit beside me,

content to sit
in silence
watching the windblown
snow on the rooftop
being spun and sparkled
to gold by a cold gust
of north wind and the last
glow of the setting sun.
