Leaf Me Alone

by Jennifer Ragan

Leaf me alone!"
The last leaf did say,
to the blustering wind
on a cold autumn day.

"You can huff and puff
till your cheeks are sore.
You can tug and pull
till you can't anymore.

Let it rain, snow and hail
with all of your might.
Let it thunder and lightning,
cause I'm holding on tight.

You can storm all night
and into the day
but you can't make me fall,
no how, no way!"
