i've found myself pondering all day on what this last snippet should say

they're meant to be spontaneous, quick,
to the point;

all of the things i fail at every day

today i am sure i learned something;
something someone else had possibly told me before,
but i wasn't listening

when they stopped expecting me to pay attention,
i decided to start writing down everything that was said;
these were never a thing to cling to,
simply a reason for believing i was appreciated

as disappointed as i have been with the people in my life lately,
i have been equally impressed with those that are new to my life;
those i never expected anything from

so today, i sit and type this out to you

you may think it isn't spontaneous enough,
clear enough,
poetic enough;

and you could be right

but this is how i am ending September

and this will be the way i start

another month.
