Saturday night in

by Melanie J Yarbrough

I go home,
avoid Sidney and
the smell of Miller Lite on his breath.
I buy a bottle of red wine on the way
for 5.99 in a place
where the guy doesn't look
at me funny
when I wait for my penny.
I sit on my red couch,
eat chopped up sweet potato
and cry over the 82 dollars that won't pay my rent.
