Polarities

by Amanda Bullington

There's a line through the world connecting us.
It's the shimmer the sun leaves on the horizon,
The axle of our world turning round,
Bringing night to you when the sun shines for me.

This line lets me identify with you in silence.
It sends your emotions shivering on their twiney way,
Clearer than a telephone wire could ever deliver your voice.

We are one.
Two shared voices on a line,
Two sets of memories combined,
Two horizons, two polarities [night and day]
Creating one shared existence.

Meanwhile, I dream of the days
When our bodies will make those
Polarities re-intertwine.
