teeth

by Angela Thomas

you know what, you're a lousy fucking friend,
when was the last time that you contributed
anything at all to my life? the last time you
listened or at least pretended to care? seriously,

you are only in it for you. and i don't get that. because
even when i've been in it for me, i can see people
around me and i can care about them. after i drop
you, and your friends, off as close to your apartment

as possible, the cabbie turned to me. and i felt a small
drop hit my hand. he said, be careful of dogs. they're not smiling
at you, they're showing their teeth
. and i think that he meant
that for you. and he's right. you're not smiling at me.

not waving goodbye. you're fang bearing. teeth proud,
and hungry for blood. i will not give you any. anymore.

I love this, the strong ending is especially grand.
