Everywhere I Need to Be

by Alison McKenzie

My consciousness bobs
Just below the surface
Of everywhere I need to be
And breathe.

I want to break the surface,
Scan the horizon,
Take a gulp before I go under again.
I want to see you laughing
One last time
Before you disappear into the night.

I want to look at my reflection
In a new way.
I want to be in the moment,
In every moment,
Until there are no moments left
And I’ve gone home at last.

I want to plant a crystal
With every step,
Ward off the entities
Who would do us all harm,
Make the grid stronger
Until evil can no longer stalk us.

I want to understand the travels
Of my astral self,
My higher self,
And my baser self.
We all go out,
And we always come back
But I, generally none the wiser.
This has got to stop.

I want to love what is,
Even if it’s not
What I think I want.
I want to understand
The mathematics of love.
I KNOW there’s an equation
Someplace, some time,
Some logic that applies,
And I swear I will solve it
Before I float away.

I was trying to pick out one stanza that I really liked, but I like them all. Well done Ali.....CharMin

...mel is prolly right, i yearn to be all at all times in all ways to all, and lo, 'tis a defeat in itself, eh? so much like char-min says...take a breath and go back down, love it, love it...
