Of all the places I could be by Nanette BellmanOf all the places I could be....
I could be in Venice,
being wooed by a man
who doesn't speak a lick of English
in the back of a gondola.
I could let my fingers play in the water
And smile and nod like I understand
everything he's saying.
Alaska maybe.
The time of year when daylight is scarce
and they only get 4 hours, if that.
I'm a creature of the night,
but only after I park myself in my parka
to watch the sunset off the glistening snow.
Building a sand castle in the Bahamas
with sea salt sandy waves of hair.
As long as my body would be built for a bikini.
But when you ask me,
"If you could be anywhere,
where would it be and why?"
The only logical answer I have is
that I want to be in the arms of someone I love.
Someone who loves me and is in love with me back.
It's the only vacation I ever want to take. 09/18/2008 Posted on 09/18/2008 Copyright © 2024 Nanette Bellman
