Ode to a Particle Accelerator (let's cross our fingers)

(I to words, not to digits, relate);
and I'm also no kind of logician
but let's see if I've got this straight:
You shoot a small laser from your side
and then let it work up some speed;
with another you try to collide-
(that's assuming you've drawn a good bede);
so, a million-kajillion bucks later,
if your project's correctly unfurled,
then your knowlege of matter is greater -
if you haven't blown up the whole world.
