Ode to the Sun

by Joe Cramer

It warms me

glaring

blindly

into my face.

My thoughts now erase

as I enjoy

this moment,

this moment

in the sun.

It rises

so early

every day,

with or without me.

All I can see

is such beauty.

I long for

this radiance,

this wealth

of being

in all that I am seeing.

So good,

so pure,

so misunderstood.

This sun brings

such simple joys

each new day

in every way

imaginable.

What would our lives be

without it?

Nil.

The sun charms

clothes off

of

bathing beauties

at the beach.

Adds hats

and parasols

on brightest days.

Illuminates,

bringing light

as well as warmth

to life.

The sun is mine

for all time.

One day

it will go

away.

So will I.
