The Lastness of Unlasting

by Anastasia Selby

1
I'm lashing out at you.

I can see it happening, and it's like
you're trying to hold me,
and I'm a lost insect,
my antannae searching wildly.

I'm waiting for you to say, enough,
and remove your arms from my skin.
I will shiver with familiarity.

2
I looked at pictures of her,
I won't say her name, and you
don't think of her anymore
but I do.

This is what happens when
you make mistakes.

I always think only
about myself
but I've run away
from the bad things I've done to people.

You are strong to stay and
feel my anger laid upon your chest
like stones.

I don't want you to stop breathing,

but sometimes I want you
to mess up again,
and prove me right.

Yeah, I gotta go with Coco on that ending. Just outstanding.
