Country cousins

by Keith D Allison

life is strange in the world of city lights
the whiskey bottle's they are full tonight
Coyotes howl in a pack twenty or more
the freight train clatters across the Creek
the antlers hotel is just down the street
an eight point buck rests his head in my backyard
he had best stay alert
for their have been a mountain cat or two around
and a bear tramped my raspberries down
for this has been the summer
that country cousins came to town
