The Ballad of Sol (and his untimely end)

by Danny Washington

The story of Sol is a tragic affair
But a tale that needs to be told.
Of a boy from a town, as plain as its name
And his musings, so desperately cold.

With so simple a plan, as is often the way
He would hold together his mind.
But the town had other plans for Sol
As he was about to find.

On the outside was joy, on the inside he craved
And he searched long and hard, day and night.
But the answers tormented and twisted his plan
'Till he lost all his reasonable sight.

So he took out a knife, and fearing he'd failed
He held the warm steel to his wrist.
But not a moment to soon, he took it away
There had to be more to it than this.

I like that Danny. Leaves you with hope that he can drag himself up. Nice write. Great rhythm.

An excellent work - love the way it rolls off the tongue.
