sayanything by Cassandra Leighmore than once, i've stood up in a public place and yelled
FUCK!
because of you.
i've been trying to write this goddamned thing for weeks.
it clings to my conscience
like a spiderweb
indelible
audacious.
i'm writing (writhing?) for you, LA boy.
and i hate it.
i hate your carpe diem attitude
your insistence on my inferiority
your San Francisco Bay eyes
the way you stand, all slouched
reminds me of judgment
and i hate that i give a damn about the verdict.
the irony is, even though i can't write about you worth shit,
you are poetry to me. 08/23/2008 Author's Note: MM

Posted by Mo Couts on 09/24/11 at 02:25 AM Those last 2 lines are a total uppercut punch that I couldn't duck no matter how hard I tried. I've been able to relate to those words more than any others; beautifully done. |
