Heart Song by Brian Francis
There is an empty cage in the room down stairs
Where my heart remains to cry
There is an empty feeling about my life
Since our Song has said goodbye
I learned to love in a different way
When she came into my life
I learned to sing a happier song
As she eased my worry and strife
I will miss her smell, that pleasant scent
I will miss her playful ways
I will think of her with tear-filled eyes
For the remainder of my days
I know that if she could have stayed
She’d be here by my side
The green the orange and the gray
And those beautiful yellow eyes
There is an empty cage in the room down stairs
Where my heart remains to cry
There is an empty feeling about my life
My spirits no longer fly

Posted by George Hoerner on 08/21/08 at 03:23 PM Nice write! As an animal lover I know how attached one can get to an animal. You never forget and that twinge comes back now and again. They can be replaced and you become attached to the next one but they are all different and one usually sticks out. |
