As I Remember

by Joe Cramer

You are very much the same as I remember

Though now, very much so different.

I was just a game for you, in August - December,

Nothing is the same as it once was, that's true.

I tried wearing a smile for you,

Sleeping so closely to you each night.

Your pill induced laden slumber

Occured after I turned off the light.

I waited as long as I could, but I stopped

Loving you almost immediately.

We are so very different, and yet I remember

You best in small, insignificant snippets of time.

I'm glad it's over, I'm glad I've gone to a better place.

It took me forever to write this, the time has crept by

You are very much as I remember.
