At the Edge of Tomorrow by Amanda L MarronChromatic summer daisies stretch
Toward the paling tangerine sun
Their tilted stems sway
Away from phantom shadows
Whilst spectres dance
In the ever-increasing beclouded twilight
Luminescence hovers
Betwixt misty petals
Blossoms grasp
For final moments of radiance
Trying desperately to create
A vestige of day
To get through the night 08/17/2008 Author's Note: Prompted by a beautiful picture of daisies aglow from the setting sun, this was written for the "Nature's Beauty" Contest on WritersCafe.Org

Posted by Alison McKenzie on 08/20/08 at 08:17 AM I'm not sure the use of "whilst" or "betwixt" worked for me, but otherwise the language is rich and superb!! I love "chromatic" and "phantom" and "beclouded" and "radiance". Mmmmmm. Just a delightful display of excellence! Plus, I liked George's take on it as well :-). |
