not easy being a cloud

by Charlie Morgan

it was one day, a day
i wasn't counting anything.
[promise i made to myself.]
using the day,
i saw a cloud.

its anemic shadow struggled
to cover a wide sky, battling
valiantly
with the wind and screaming Sun.
losing,
as entroy carries the cloud
from today to yesterday to
tomorrow;

monday, alaska;
tues, belgium;
thurs; acupulco;
and fri, the Andes.
it's not easy being
a cloud,
an anemic one at that.

It passed over The Dalles just the other day, naked and shivering.
