...we play chicken with sunrises... by Olivia Weinkeinwe play chicken with sunrises
yours was always such a pretty collision course
and i've wanted to get to know you better
since the moment i first saw that
dangerous look in your eyes
(funny how i don't fall apart at the end of
all of this,
funny how i do)
penny-pinching in the wrong market
this sanity holocoust has grown full bloom
in your safety-garden,
untitled works best when there's nothing left
to call this,
exposing yourself to those who only know
how to look forward
pass this by with your inquisitive bullshit,
noone has anything left to sell, save your
nonsense & ask me tomorrow,
don't be surprised when the bread is still stale
i've known quitters and bruisers all my life
watching them become one in the same,
laughing out fragments of what it is to be human,
but don't be alarmed when they can't
remember your name, & i'm not needy but
i need this more than you will ever know
i'm just killing time, penny-pinching
in the wrong market
(funny how i don't fall apart at the end of
all of this,
funny how i do)

Posted by Jared Fladeland on 08/14/08 at 04:22 AM you've got some catchy little stuff in here
the title alone is wonderful, as well does the "untitled works best..." line |
Posted by Coleman Demiurge on 08/14/08 at 06:21 AM This is really superb; I especially liked the latter half and the lines "i've known quitters and bruisers all my life watching them become one in the same, laughing out fragments of what it is to be human", as well as "& i'm not needy but i need this more than you will ever know". Yeah, kind of been there too; we're all just killing time in the end... Excellent work. |
