Colorful Metaphors

by Joe Cramer

I dwell in an office

Full of colorful metaphors.

You could end all

Of the wars

Of the world

With all of the "F" bombs

Dropped around here.

I never understand

This necessity.

If the average college graduate

Has 60,000 active words,

And 75,000 passive words,

I work with guys

(And a lot of women too)

That might have 35,000 active words

And 60,000 colorful metaphors.

Most of the guys weren't in the Navy!

So, you can see

How easily

I fit in?

Quoting Hamlet,

Writing poetry,

Penning a sonnet,

Without ever spewing forth

Colorful metaphors.

I find it quite distasteful myself, even when I fall prey to their use now and again. Yuck!
