Responsible for the Rain...

by Bethany Lee

Always willing to change,
tomorrow…

“This is the last time”
Is a mantra breeding disbelief and doubt.

Human fault lines whisk away all conviction.

“We will change,” we chant,
but we stay the same.

Angry at over-consuming unnecessary plastic playthings;
cloth covered bindings.
Empty musings over swirling smoke –
A guise to pretend we can’t see clearly
through our eyes
On our own.

Close to disowning our vital breath -
Not taking responsibility for the rain
When we get wet.
