Calm

by Alison McKenzie

I am a still surface,
Ocean of glass,
Depths of life and death
Disguised by
Shimmer earthen eyes.

Magma forms layers below.
Cools in the currents -
Silent stones.

I am unvisited,
Unexplored, unseen.
I will not be mapped.

Unmoved but for the moon,
I take no lovers -
Longing is for the living.

I am sure others too have felt like this. It captures the reader and does so very well. -bf
