Surviving July (haiku)

by Sandy M. Humphrey

fiscal year changes
and seasonally long hours
all brain function ceased

drinks with umbrellas
sipped slowly through short thin straws
are sand less beaches

electric chilled air
does not prepare one for heat
of sun bathed autos

Author's Note: More reasons why summer is not my favorite season but I am a fan of #2.

I also love "drinks with umbrellas". (It's my Indian name, yes, my friends are umbrellas, just like you. There will be a pop quiz on this soon. Like, in the Fall. Hoefully. Nice smooth poem
