Simonette

by Joe Cramer

Confidently striding forth from the shore

Such a sweet vision in all her beauty.

Rising from water for all to adore

I was swept away from what I could see.

Watching your softly silken loveliness,

Glimpsing your smile along pebbled sand.

My heart leaps, then is caught in loveliness,

As I await the time, once and again.

You move so sweetly across timeless waves,

I wait, watch. I quietly look, listen

To the sounds of late summer, without cares

Or subsequent emotions, thoughts glisten.

Inspired am I of you, for always,

As from the start, through the sum of my days.

Author's Note: ... ever wonder what people are thinking as they sit at the beach? The other day I was at the beach, thinking of "The Birth of Venus" by Botticelli. Simonette was deMedici's mistress, thought to be the model for Venus in this painting.....
