two mamas' love

by Charlie Morgan

her dark brown was a sign posted: illegal.
and from Mexico. she smiles, Guatamalan!

she grins, holding her 8 month granchild.
her daughter, one foot in American teen,
the other deeply entrenched with denial.

her new flaky husband, her need to fit-in,
her need to be 'white' as her skin allows.

the future held by a mother's mama, grunts.
