Inner Marathon

by Jeffrey Parren

Each jogged step
finds me hating myself
more and more
because it reminds
of all the things not done
and as I get older
the realization that change
may not happen
starts to scare and humble,
considering all I thought
I would have accomplished
is now a dream's faint memory.

Author's Note: Again, not fond of this, and being only part of the handful of things I have written in about 6 months it fits the bill. (Poop on internet paper) And yes I know I am negative and yada yada...Rome wasn't built in a day.

Reminds me of the saying, "Is the cup half full or half empty?' This poem starkly says it is half empty! A bit of pessimism but very clearly conveyed!
