Bear Grass 2008

by Leonard M Hawkes

Durable enough
To be "basket grass";
Prevalent enough
As to go unnoticed--
Another common element
Of the multifaceted
Greenness of the wood;

But with July's heat
It burst upward
From the bosom of the Mother
To expose its true nature:
A three-foot erection of white lily
With breast-shaped crown
Complete with nipple.

A hillside orgy
Unrivaled by anything else
In The Yellowstone:
An orgasm of beauty
I almost blush to ravish--
Eye-candy, optically relished
Deep within a fleshy heart.

Author's Note: North shore, Lake of the Woods, Wyoming.
