Setting Boundaries

by Sandy M. Humphrey

It is not about drawing lines in sand

Daring one to cross

Boundaries are gentler at times
Mere invisible circles of morality
And character defining what is yours
Or what you will and will not abide
A line that bends and gives with each
Human tide that try’s to break against
The wave of human relationships

A buoy of sort bobbing like a marker
To say one has gone to far and is
Treading in dangerous water
A boundary can be redefined at will
Like a surveyor with a tripod
Taking notes and viewing the territory
From many perspectives
if necessary the line

can be moved

For it is not like drawing lines in sand
Just necessary guidelines in all relationships
