climbing the clouds

by Charlie Morgan

his steed reared, climbed the air
with his front hooves, though
his back feet kept him on earth.

the cowboy said that ol' nag's
that flying horse. Pegasus, was
mentioned at school, he wasn't in.

eighty years were weighing him down,
so Pegasus will never be known to him.
but the red flying horse will always be.

and the dreams carried by a flying horse
will reach Heaven quicker, he smiles.
'look at 'em, trying to climb the clouds.'
