too young to be looking so old by Jared Fladeland"fit into the hole you stupid button.
i will rip you apart and stuff you into little chunks
down the garbage disposal unless you allow my gut to fit."
with a decomplished demoralized sigh
i remove the garment in question and retire to the toilet
where i hope to lose a few pounds every time i look in the mirror.
burning eyes look back at me, along with a few developing
wrinkles in the forehead
bags under the eyes
and stubble on my neck and chin.
when did i grow up? 07/14/2008 Posted on 07/14/2008 Copyright © 2024 Jared Fladeland

Posted by Julie Adams on 07/14/08 at 04:42 PM this is awesome...one of the best opening lines/stanzas I've ever read...it leads so easily to the question at the end, still the question (to me) reverbs the heart of a child...well done...a pleasure to read, a favorite already...peace, jewels |
