poetry wars

by Emily Davidson

i don't want to be this way anymore:
we're both so
wise with our words
masters of
snappy comebacks and
snide remarks
the king and queen
of jealousy and
vengeance
we could
tear each other apart
with our words
but let's agree
to surrender
that power
and just let love
take care of itself

...nice poetic plea here for peace between two word warriors...with the king n queen reference I somehow thought of chess pieces playing games...I love the simplicity of the writing in this piece, the conversational tone, but even adding some sensory imagery might make this relatable piece even moreso...hope I haven't said too much, it's been a pleasure, peace, jewels

A poetic white flag of truce or surrender? Dealing with words of jealousy and vengence, a strange ending.
