distracting addictions

by Mary Frances Spencer

so many pills
rainbow options
pop another
numb down
dumb questions

suppress the natural
cycles
sit and watch
consume

around the mall we go
shopping florescent youth
swilling endless coffee

distracting addictions

desires purchased
are
never fulfilled

Author's Note: Just noticing that we all have our "addictions" and wondering if we unconsciously create our own obstacles. MFS

Nice reminder. Oh yes! Pills, sex, buying, our little obsessions of combing our lawn, ignoring the unpleasant in the world, classifying people into the categories of dumb, black, white, hispanic, rich, poor. Oh yes! We all have our obsessions, both physical and mental.

Ya, I seem to be inundated lately by the consequences of addictions. Very timely observations, and astute!
