anthro-what-ology? by Charlie Morgan
nomadic homo erectus developed The Question?
what?, applied it to secure a place in history.
throughout man's civility we applaud
the Mona Lisa and pore over Magna Carta.
busy with matters of great consequence,
we scurry, serpentinely, drag our booty.
searching for the 'just right' spot; lie
until another dons you with dirt sheets.
slay the slayer: banners for all, blood-red
in color, transparent in the arena of care.
dimming lights aren't noticed; we proceed
with a doubt(covered-up), hunt the dollar,
thinking by capture the world will be ours.
a clear print of yesterday: today's paper;
tomorrow cries for the babies she wants
and the hopes they bring with tiny hands.

Posted by George Hoerner on 07/08/08 at 08:46 PM I love my man! I've been told I write in too many "generalities". I need more specifics like her name, the time, more details. So I'm spending my time watching my grass/weeds grow behind my house. It's over my waste now. Really nice Chas! |
Posted by Alison McKenzie on 07/08/08 at 08:48 PM Mmmm, I'm still baby crazy, as if a new life could wipe the slate clean. It's probably a good thing for me the plumbing all's been disconnected (not removed, just disconnected...lol). Well. Again, another brilliant point of view from the teacher. |
Posted by Mary Frances Spencer on 07/09/08 at 05:13 AM "thinking by capture the world will be ours" is sooo true...but really hard to hold onto. I do like this hopeful ending! MFS |
