My Time

by Thomas K. Hunt

Her time has come and gone
Each day among the past
Longing the life before this year
A life bygone and passed

I’ve lived each day with true love
Within my heart it burns
Yet only turns to ashes
Knowing she cannot return

In thinking of my future
Pre-lines upon my face
Never a thought of this present
Never a thought of this place

Yesteryear when thoughts were then
Contentment filled the day
Innocents, a childhood friend
No longer wants to play

There’s emptiness within my deep
Where only I can go
Since last I heard her whisper
It’s the only place I know

Though I’ve lived through every moment
There’s mystery in each year
Tormented by her absence
Living with the fear

The fear of forever
Never hearing the word hello
Never a thought it would be never
In my time I didn’t know

Oh this hurts...such a vivid picture that it paints. Beautifully written.
